Producer Rana Sarkar is bringing Mahua Roychowdhury's story to the big screen with the film Gungoon Kare Mahua, directed by Sohini Bhowmik. The screenplay, based on research, is being developed by Devpratim Dasgupta and Sohini. Pre-production work is currently underway.
There has been significant speculation about who will portray Mahua Roychowdhury. Reports suggest Ayanya Chattopadhyay might play Mahua's childhood role, and she may also depict the late actress's later years. However, other names are being considered, with a look test already conducted.
Rajnandini Pal is expected to play Mahua Roychowdhury in the film. A known face in Bengali cinema and web series, Rajnandini has acted in films like Udanchandi, Ek Ji Hai Raja, Sampoorna, Asoor, and Tooru Love. She is also the daughter of actress Indrani Dutt.
