The singer was admitted to the Woodburn Ward of SSKM. The medical board was formed in a hurry. It is known that the artist got injured after falling in the toilet. After that she became very ill. Added to that was the problem of shortness of breath. Hospital sources said she had an infection in both her lungs. After the treatment, her physical condition was gradually stabilizing. But by Tuesday evening her physical complications suddenly increased.
Although Sandhya Mukhopadhyay lent her voice for most of the Bengali film heroines till the end of '80s, she was singing voice of Suchitra Sen and afterwards Mahua Roychowdhury.
