Singer Sandhya Mukhopadhyay Passes Away At 90

The last star of the artists of the golden age in Bengali songs went out. Mukherjee breathed his last on Tuesday evening at the age of 90. Hemant Mukherjee, Manna Dey, Shyamal Mitra and Manabendra Mukherjee are among the best singers of modern Bengali music. This time also the pure evening lamp. She was being treated at a private hospital near Bypass. The singer fell ill on Wednesday evening, January 26. The next day she was admitted to SSKM Hospital through Green Corridor. According to hospital sources, she had a lung infection. Coincidentally, two days earlier, she had rejected the Centre's Padma award.

The singer was admitted to the Woodburn Ward of SSKM. The medical board was formed in a hurry. It is known that the artist got injured after falling in the toilet. After that she became very ill. Added to that was the problem of shortness of breath. Hospital sources said she had an infection in both her lungs. After the treatment, her physical condition was gradually stabilizing. But by Tuesday evening her physical complications suddenly increased.

Although Sandhya Mukhopadhyay lent her voice for most of the Bengali film heroines till the end of '80s, she was singing voice of Suchitra Sen and afterwards Mahua Roychowdhury.
