Born in 22 February 193 at Comilla, British India, (now in Bangladesh), Sabitri Chottopadhyay started her acting career when she was a mere girl. Poverty forced her to start her filmy career. Sabitri Chottopadhyay was in class X when she was noticed by legendary comedian Bhanu Bandopadhyay and started acting in a theatre.

This film is a high frequency family drama. Kangalicharan who is so obsessed with making money chooses money over his family. His son and wife die because he could not provide proper medication and treatment on time which he did not provide. His assets reduced to his one and only daugther Krishna and a two storied house. Story of the film
Raja was a professional thief who went to jail for a crime. His very close assistant Bhola waited for him and when Raja came back from jail, they started to plan for a bigger one. One day a family came to their locality. Within few days, Raja and Bhola became closer to that family. Mala was the only female earning member and she worked in theatre. Raja did not disclose his real identity and tried hard to impress her a lot. In the meantime, a tout Gobordhan nagged Mala a lot to join films. Raja and Bhloda gave him a good punishment and saved Mala in several situations. Later Raja tried to cheat a businessperson, but an unavoidable situation changed his life. At last, Mala came to know everything about Raja and accepted him as her partner. Raja also decided to change his life and put his best effort to become a good man. He meets Mala and asks her to forgive Raja. Raja once again regains Mala's love and the film ends on a happy note.
Marutirtha Hinglaj (1959)
The film is based on the travel story written by Kalikananda Abadhuta. One interesting thing about the film Marutirtha Hinglaj is that the entire desert sand scenes have been shot in the beach of Digha. The story is based on the deserts and wastelands of Pakistan where pilgrims take their difficult journey to the Shaktipeeth Hinglaj Devi. The journey of the pilgrims from India is taxing, some are from as far as Bengal.
Not only is the desert tough to walk across it is coupled with dacoits and inhospitable locals. Uttam Kumar (Thirumal) and Sabitri Chatterjee (Kunti) are rescued by the group of Hindu and Muslim pilgrims.

Story of the film
In Kuhak, the film opened with a scene in the jail where Uttam Kumar met Tarun Kumar. Uttam Kumar spoke about his activities relating to theft. Tarun Kumar disclosed about his capabilities relating to opening any lock in any almirah or cupboard and he was imprisoned for those activities.
Uttam Kumar after being released from jail came to the same village where Tarun Kumar lived with his two sons and sister played by Sabitri Chatterji. Uttam Kumar was a singer and with the team of Premangshu Bose used to perform in the role of Chaitanyadev in village plays (jatras).
Most of the villagers started thinking that Uttam Kumar was actual Chaitanyadeb. Tarn Kumar told Uttam Kumar that he stole Rs 30000 from a locker in a nearby house, but when he tried to escape from the police, he was fired by the police and died. He showed the place where he kept the money to his son. Both Uttam Kumar and Premangshu Bose stayed back in the village to take that money that was kept by Tarun Kumar.
Uttam Kumar fell sorry for Sabitri Chatterjee, the sister of Tarun Kumar and fell in love with her. The last part of the film showed the fight between Uttam Kumar and Premangshu Bose in extracting the stolen money.
The music of the film was impressive, with Uttam Kumar giving brilliant lips in Hemant Kumar’s song “bishnupriya go”. There were many other songs sung by Hemant Kumar for Uttam Kumar and the character of Uttam Kumar being a singer was bolstered with the music.

Story of the film
‘Kal Tumi Aleya’ is the story of rise of Dhirapada Chakroborty from his humble background to the post of general supervisor in Mr. Himanshu Mitra’s company. It’s his journey which shows his various relations with his neighbor whom he calls Sona boudi, Charu di who helps him get this job, Labanya Sarkar, the lady doctor of the company and Amit, Charu’s nephew. Story of the film
Sabitri Chatterjee. She plays the lead as Pushpa, a woman abused by her husband and deserted. As fate would have it she lands up in a brothel where she meets Ananga, played by Uttam Kumar. Ananga is upset with his married life and has started to visit red light areas to find companionship.
The story deepens as Pushpa starts to play a motherly role to a child in a loveless family. The story delves into human emotions and breaks stereotypes set by the society.
Nishipadma is also well known for its wonderful music.

Story of the film
The story centers around the character of Bogola (Partha Mukherjee); who is the younger brother of Kali Dutta (Uttam Kumar). Bogola is the captain of a football team Sarbamangala Club managed by his elder brother. The team goes to a village Harbhanga to play in the finals of the Nangteshwar Shield. Monosha (Jaya Bhaduri)'s maternal uncle (mama) Gobordhan Chowdhury (Jahar Ray) is the president of the local football club and after losing the ancestral "Nangteshwar shield" (named after his father, Nangteshwar Chowdhury); decides to forcefully marry off Monosha (Jaya Bhaduri) and Bogola (Partha Mukherjee) to Keep the "Shield" in the family. All matters are soon resolved because Monosha and Bogola love each other.
