The plot of the film Maya Kumari revolves around Maya kumari and Kanan Kumar, a hit pair of 1940’s Bengali cinema. Maya Kumari was in love with director - actor Kanan Kumar. At that time Maya Kumari was married and her husband was Sital Bhattacharya. Our society was annoyed on the relationship of Maya Kumari and Kanan Kumar.
In the peak of her career, Maya Kumari suddenly left film industry. Why did she leave films? The truth is she leaves films to live her life with her husband Sital Bhattacharya far from media and the glamour world. But did she leave her film career because of her first onscreen kiss and the criticism she received from the society?
