As expected, Begum Jaan has managed to collect Rs. 3.94 crore on the first day. Film Begum Jaan is a Hindi remake of Srijit Mukherji's Bengali film 'Rajkahini' and the film has been released across 900-1100 screens in the country.
Actress Vidya Balan is playing the role of a madam of a brothel, who is trying to protect her sex workers and their home amidst the looming threat of the India-Pakistan partition.
