Box office report of Bengali films in year 2014
was not satisfactory as compared to previous years. Many films were released in 2014 but Bengali film industry is facing a crisis.
Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta are still at the top position.
Performance wise, Ritu and Bumba have reached their peak. Dev has worked in
both romantic commercial films and off beat films suceesfully. Another top hero
of Bengali films Jeet remained contendent in commercial films only. Let’s hope
Jeet will try different type of films in 2015. Abir Chatterjee is the new
Feluda in Bengali films and his first film as Feluda will be released on 19
December. Let’s hope his success. Nothing special can be said about Koel
Mallick, Paoli Dam and Tanusree Chakraborty. Swastika Mukherjee was in hot news
for several reasons – personal and filmy. Swastika’s bold nude sceene in film
Take One created lot of controversies. Year 2014 for Srabanti Chatterjee was
not so bad. Srabanti acted in different type of role in film Buno Haansh.
