Story and Cast of Mahabharata of Kamaleswar Mukherjee

Director Kamaleswar Mukherjee‘s much talked film Mahabharata’s shooting will start from December this year. The story of the film is the great epic Mahabharata in a modern avatar.

Story of the film Mahabharata

The story of the film Mahabharata revolves around two families who make their wealth from land deals, tea gardens and coal mines. Gradually the families shift their focus to smuggling, real estate, Ponzi schemes and cricket betting to make more money.  The story begins in 1950 and continues till today, 2014. The families change their activities from time to time.

The film deals with number of socio-political issues of modern times. Coal mafias are ruling the Bengal-Jharkhand boarder. Poor people of huge number of villages in those areas work under the coal mafias and earn their bread.  

The second part of the film deals with cricket betting - dice game in Mahabharata. In the film Draupadi will be seen as bar dancer at a nightclub. 'Geeta' sequence of Mahabharata in the film has Dev and Parambrata meeting at a bar over drinks.
