Rituparna Sengupta is now above fourty but still she is the most glamorous and sexy actress among the other heroines in Bengali films right now. Rituparna is the only actress in Bengali film industry today who has the capacity and currage to carry a film on her shoulder. Rituparna Sengupta is busy with her tight shooting schedules, her family, her home and husband in foreign country - Singapore.

Since last few years, Rituparna Sengupta is working in low budget films but she is still at the top. Many Tollywood actresses are working in big production house films where Rituparna is not in big banner films but still no one is near to Ritu so far as performance and box office demand is concerned. Rituparna Sengupta is working in all type of films. Recently released films of Rituparna Sengupta are Pati Parameshwar and Parapaar- both are tottaly opposite type of movies.  Rituparna Sengupta is balancing her filmy career perfectly with both hard core commercial and serious movies. Rituparna worked in Shashurbari Zindabad and the same Ritu has worked in film like Dahaan. The most strange thing is that Rituparna Sengupta is not considered in the question Who is number one heroine in Bengali film industry? Rituparna Sengupta is not bothered about it. Rituparna Sengupta is in this industry for last 22 years and still she is heoinne and this feature tells the position of the other actresses in Tollywood.

In her 22 years long filmy career, Rituparna Sengupta has taken two breaks – one at the time of her son’s birth and second time for her daughter’s birth. Rituparna Sengupta made her first comeback with film Aalo and her second comeback was with film Muktodhara. Rituparna’s first film was Shwetpatharer Thala and the film was released in November 1992.

Rituparna Sengupta’s father was in service and her mother was a homemaker. Rituparna’s father had a dream that she would opt for a career in medical line like her uncle and aunty. Rituparna Sengupta’s father never supported her to take acting as career. Ritu was in girls school and college and that was as per decision of her father.

How Rituparna Sengupta came in film industry

Rituparna Sengupta was just a std 10 passed student when the chance came. Rituparna Sengupta’s friends Anindita’s elder brither Kushal Chakraborty was then working with some Fairy Tells in TV channels.  Anindita approached Rituparna Sengupta to act in those serials. Rituparna was not ready to work in Television as she knew that her father would never allow her. Ultimately Rituparna Sengupta worked in a episode. Film director Prabhat Roy was impressed by the performance of Rituparna and offered her  a role in his film Shwetpatharer Thala. Rituparna Sengupta’s father was not very happy with the offer but allowed her to work in film. That was the beginning of a glorious career of the actress, Rituparna Sengupta.

The film Shwetpatharer Thala was a superhit film. Rituparna Sengupta got mixed response from the audiences. At that time Rituparna’s voice was little bit odd. Her brown eyes were also a point of critisism. Rituparna Sengupta was not a trained actress so she was a target. Rituparna motivated herself to get a platform in the industry. The actress worked hard and her first hit commercial film was ‘Sujansakhi’ opposite Abhisekh.

At the initial stage of her career, Rituparna Sengupta worked in many hit films with Abhisekh. Rituparna-Chiranjeet pair also was a hot pair at a time. Rituparna Sengupta wotrked opposite Mithun Chakraborty and after that Rituparna – Prosenjit pair came.

Rituparna Sengupta’s husband Sanjay Chakraborty presently resides in Singapore. Ritu tries to reach Singapore after every three months and spends time with her husband. At Ritu has to help her son Ankan in his studies. Rishona, Ritu’s daughter demands time from her mother and Ritu has to spend time with her daughter.

According to Rituparna Sengupta, Sanjay Chakraborty is very much flexisible and cooperative. Ritu’s hubby Sanjay is a private equity investor. Rituparna met Sanjay for the first time in annual concert of a dwaring school. Rituparna Sengupta was a student of the Drawring School. At that time Rituparna was a student of class seven andSanjay was three years senior to her. Their love started after both of them were in an excursion tour of the Dwaring school.

Sanjay wants Ritu to work in light comedy films and he dislikes bold and intimate scenes of Rituparna Sengupta in films.

Rituparna Sengupta and Prosenjit Chatterjee Gossips

Rituparna Sengupta – Prosenjit Chatterjee pair once rocked the Bengali film industry. They have presented many superhit films but now they are not working together. Accroding to Rituparna Sengupta, gossips and rumours related to Rituparna and Prosenjit reached such a height that they decided not to work together. Personal and professional lives of both Ritu and her Bumba da were hampered. Rumour was that Rituparna and Prosenjit are in love. Rituparna thinks that Prosenjit-Rituparna pair may work again Bengali film if suitable script is written keeping them in mind.

Presently Rituparna Sengupta and Prosenjit Chatterjee are just two artists of Tollywood. They rarely meet in any function. Both Prosenjit and Rituparna keeps distance from each other.
