Singer Ankit Tiwari and details about the rape charges on him

 Popular playback singer Ankit Tiwari was arrested by the Mumbai Police on 8 May on rape charges against him. Ankit Tiwari is a rising singer and he gained popularity with the song 'Sunn Raha Hai Na', in film Aashiqui 2. 

It is learnt that the woman is girlfriend of Ankit Tiwari and the ill-fated girl is the victim sexually assault since July 2013. The Aashiqui 2 singer promised her marriage. Last year in the month of August, Ankit applied 'sindoor' - vermillion on the survivor's forehead in a temple at her residence and continue to demand sexual favours. The girl tried to resist physical relationship with the singer but he threatened the her that he would post her obscene photographs and video recordings on social networking sites.

News is that Ankit ultimately told the girl that his parents didn't approve their marriage. The girl threatened to approach the police and Ankur, brother of Ankit threatened her of dire consequences.

Both Ankit and Ankur were arrested by police, Ankur is released on bail and Ankit Tiwari will be in police custody till 12 May.

Name of the victim is still unknown.
