Legendary
singer Manna Dey was born on 1 May 1919. Manna Dey has sang in many regional
languages, but most of his songs are in Bengali and Hindi. Manna Dey is a
singer with strong classical base and he has sang different types of
songs. Manna Dey was honoured with Padma
Shri in 1971, the Padma Bhushan in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007
by Government of India.
Manna
Dey’s wife Sulochana died in Bangalore on 18 January 2012. Manna Dey presently resides with her daughter
and her family in Bangalore.
