Legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra is no more. The king of romance Yash Chopra died at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra on Sunday evening. Yash Chopra was suffering from dengue and was under treatment since last week at the hospital. Yash Chopra was admitted to Lilavati hospital on 13 October and died on 21 October 2012. Yash Chopra was 80 years old.
Yash Chopra was born in Lahore on 27 September 1932. Yash Chopra has made many memorable romantic Hindi films like Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara. His last film Jab Tak Hai Jaan will be released during Diwali this year. Yash Chopra earlier announced that this film will be his last film and after that he wanted to give more time to his wife but god has something different in his mind.
Yash Chopra won six National Film Awards and 11 Filmfare awards. Yash Chopra was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2005. Yashji has utilised both Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan successfully in romantic roles.
Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosley, Madhuri Dixit, and many more has expressed their grief on Yash Chopra's death.
