In 2011, two Bengali films, Paglu and Shatru have crossed the previous record of budget of Bengali films. Budget of Bengali film Shatru was 6 crore and budget of Bengali film Pagluwas 5 crore. Box office report of Paglu and Shatru were encouraging for West Bengal film industry.

New talents found in Bengali films in 2011.

This year Bengali audiences discovered Somlata Acharyya as a female singer and Anupam Roy as a singer and composer. Both are very talented and can contribute a lot.

Tanusree Chakraborty and Parno Mitra are two most talented actresses found in Bengali films. Parno Mitra in Ranjana Aami Aar Asbona is outstanding. Tanusree Chakraborty is working in many upcoming films. Both Tanusree Chakraborty and Parno Mitra will be in Bengali film industry for a long time.

New directors in Bengali films in 2011

Srijit Mukherjee and Shibaprasad Mukherjee are to most talented new directors, West Bengal film industry got in 2011. 22se Srabon or Baise Srabon of Srijit is one of the best Bengali films in 2011. Director Gautam Ghosh acted in 22se Srabon after a long gap and proved that he is an asset of Bengali films as an actor also. Shibaprasad has presented a good Bengali film Icchein 2011. Shooting of another Bengali film Muktadhara is going on which will be released in 2012 which is expected to be another box office hit Bengali film.

Shooting of Bengali film Aparajita Tumiis done totally in San Francisco. This is really unique in Bengali films. 

In 2011, three child films are released. Bengali film on famous ‘Tenida’ is back after 32 years. Gosai Baganer Bhoot is doing good business in box office and audiences liked this film. Sandip Roy presented Royal Bengal Rahasay, another Bengali film of Feluda series.
