Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta will be found in a totally new different type of character in one of her upcoming movies. Rituparna Sengupta will play in the role of sex worker in her new Bengali film Taan. Mukul Roychoudhury is the director of this Bengali movie.
The theme of the film is based on sex workers from the Sunderbans near Kolkata. These sex workers are totally different from sex workers from other parts of the country. These sex workers live in boats on the river at Sunderbans and they are known as jol beshya-water prostitutes in the Sunderbans. Most of us do not have any idea about this class of prostitutes-jol beshyas. The life style of jol beshyas will be portrayed in this unnamed Bengali movie. Director and script writer of this Bengali movie have actually done research works on the life and root of these water prostitutes. The girls are not the natives of Sunderbans. Sunderbans are shared by both the countries, India and Bangladesh. From Indian part of Sunderbans one can reach the Bangladesh part only by boat. These poor girls are forced into the prostitution profession by water pirates and are under their control. The water prostitutes have to live on boat and their live revolves around boats.
Rituparna Sengupta is very much exited about her role as it is uncommon and a critical character. Shooting of the movie will be done in Kolkata, Sunderbans and Bangladesh. Shibhashis Bandyopadhyay is the scriptwriter and creative director of the Bengali movie on water prostitutes-jol beshyas. Script of the film is adopted from a story of Al Mamun, Jalbeshya.
