Date of birth: 12 March 1984 in Berhampore, West Bengal, India
She stayed at Berhampore for initial 3 months and then moved to Rawatbhata near Kota, Rajasthan. Her father was posted there.

From her childhood Shreya was inclined on music. Her first guru in music was her mother. Afterwards she took training from Rakesh Sharmaji, Shri Jayawardhan Bhatnagar, her school's music teacher, Mahesh Chandra Sharmaji. All of them were from Kota, Rajasthan. In Mumbai she got training from Late Mukta Bhideji in classical Hindusthani music.
Shreya’s Hindi playback singer career starts with film Devdas. Shreya received both the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer and the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for her songs in Devdas. Since then Shreya is marching on. Till today she has received four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards.
Shreya Ghoshal is singing in Bengali films also. Apart from Hindi and Bengali, she has songs in other regional languages also.
